While it sits in a public park, the Reid Menzer Memorial Skatepark was originally built without any tax dollars, and is privately maintained from donations and fundraising events. The original value of the construction was approximately $500,000.
The park has proven to be extraordinarily popular – drawing local and regional skaters year-round. It provides a safe skating location for York-area skaters and protects private property from damage from skating. For thousands of young and older skaters, the park has improved quality of life in York immeasurably.
